Entropy Report Warns: Roundup Linked to Health Problems

Roundup is one of the world’s most popularly used herbicides.

Roundup, brought to market in the 1970′s, is commonly used to control weeds in crop production. Roundup is also commonly used in all types of turf management, including golf courses, sports fields and home lawns.

Roundup Linked to Health Problems

Fans of the Roundup product take note: The scientific journal Entropy just published a report warning that heavy use of the herbicide Roundup has been linked to health problems.

The report asserts that “residues (of the herbicide) are found in the main foods of the Western diet, comprised primarily of sugar, corn, soy, and wheat.”  The report goes on to explain that glyphosate (the main ingredient in the Roundup product), “enhances the damaging effects of other food borne chemical residues and environmental toxins.”  This exposure results in a slow process where inflammation from the exposure damages cellular systems within the body.

A recent Reuters article about the report highlights that the EPA is in the process of a standard review of glyphosate.  This Entropy report is one of many items submitted for review within this process.  A deadline of 2015 has been set to determine whether use of the glyphosate should be limited.

Monsanto, the maker of Roundup, has responded that glyphosate has been “extensively studied” and that they are “confident in the track record that glyphosate has.” Time will tell as the EPA review takes place, but More than 162,000 Facebook Users “like” the Occupy Monsanto Facebook page & believe otherwise.
